Whistling in the Dark Empty Whistling in the Dark

Post by Cuddlebear Cassandra Sat Jun 30, 2012 11:12 pm

It was cold and dark out. Her eyes were open. She was kind of glad it was raining. It would be less obvious she was crying. She laid on a bench, somewhat curled up. She wasn't feeling good. She was alone again. She'd stowed her weapon under the seat to make it more comfortable to lay. She may just sleep here. The rain kind of bugged her, but it wasn't too much of a problem. She just wiped at her face occasionally. She didn't like the strange mix of hot and cold on her face. She hummed a little. She hoped it would make her feel better. It didn't. She had nothing to comfort herself with. It was a bad idea to completely rely on one person...

Why was she walking around the park at night again?, Oh, right, she was supposed to show up for a date. Secret admiror. She doubted they would show up. She was going to use the guy for a free dinner. Bastard, wasting her time, she couldn't blame him though, it was raining. Cold, and really. Not the best weather to try and woo someone. Heh, she shrugged as she wiped some of the water from her face, she didn't prop her umbrella up in time it seemed. As she walked along the path she noticed a figure curled up on the bench.. it looked small. Maybe even a kids. She frowned abit. Walking up to the edge of the bench. "hey, don't you have somewhere to go tonight?, its pretty late to be out playing", on closure inspection it looked like a young girl.. who seemed to be upset. Those puffy eyes, definately showed it. "I can take ya if you want".

A voice. Somebody was actually out in this weather? Her fist tightened a little. She was kinda scared. Whoever this was thought she was a child. Well... she may as well be, she supposed. She couldn't see who it was. These eye were terrible in the dark. Somebody told her she might need glasses. She ignored them. Maybe it would be a good idea... She looked at the dark, blurry figure. She opened her mouth to try and speak. Nothing came out. She just put a hand to her mouth and looked down to the ground. More warm liquid leaked from her eyes. She felt so helpless...

"Come on now sweety.. if you don't want to tell me, will you at least come with me out from this rain. Your probably going to catch your death of cold or something out here", yes yes, totally cliche, she knew it. But the girl didn't seem to want to talk to her. And she watched enough shows to know how your supposed to act in these situations. She held her hand out for the girl. "I'm Alex by the way. I hope your not afraid of me. I only want to help", she wasn't sure what circumstances left this girl out in the cold like this. But whatever worked.

The person wasn't leaving her. She took some deep breaths. She was feeling so odd. It hurt inside. Maybe she should go with this person. Might just help her a bit. She let out her breath and sat up. She looked at the ground for a couple seconds before she looked up at the figure. Alex. She couldn't really hear the voice right now. Her ears were hurting... Really, all her senses were dulled right now. She needed to get to a lighter, drier, warmer place. She wasn't sure what Alex looked like. Or even what gender Alex might be. That name was pretty neutral. She reached under the bench and took her weapon. placing it on her back. She reached up and took the hand. She still didn't want to speak.

Alex's smile faded abit when she noticed the rather large scythe.. well there went the idea of going to grab something to eat. She doubted she could get them to ignore the weapon. No matter how hard she flirted... she could always sent her double to get something.. but then she'd have to promise her a 'speical snack', as a reward... why was she so difficult to work with!. Side tracking, right.. "Hey, sweetie.. how long have you had that thing for?. Seems pretty big and heavy", she positioned the umbrella between them to try and shield the girl from the rain. How the hell can she carry it. She held the girls hand loosely as she started to walk. She shouldn't take her home. Just in case.. but she didn't want to waste money on a hotel room. This was turning out to be difficult.

She shivered a little. She didn't like the cold. Granted, it wouldn't hurt her. Still.. it was uncomfortable. She was asked a question. She started to tremble. "As long as I can remember..." She felt colder. She might start crying again. She squeezed the hand tight. She was scared. She was upset. She just wanted to be gone. She didn't really know what to do. She stood close to the figure holding her hand. She wanted to be warmer. She didn't like not being able to tell what was going on. Maybe they would get somewhere better. She hoped this wouldn't turn out bad. She'd heard that bad things happen to people like her at this time in this kind of place...

The girl looked and sounded so vulnerable.. it was melting her heart quiet abit. Not a hard thing to do, but still. She guessed she had no choice but to get the girl back to her place. "Don't worry sweety. We're going to get to my place and then I'll give you a towel to dry off and some clothes to wear while we dry your own, and then we might get something to eat. Are you hungry?", this was the first thing the girl had actually said anything to her. She smiled, it was a start. Though she might have to get her to leave the weapon for abit. She held the girls hand firmly.

More questions were asked of her. She watched the rain patter against the ground as she followed the figure. She didn't want to talk. Get new clothes. Her spare hand felt at her clothes. They were cold, wet. They were also nice. And soft... she liked this dress. It was a present. It was special. Her hand tightened into a fist again. She wiped at her face. She was tired of all the different temperatures. She was so cold... She guessed she could eat a little. She felt sick, but food would probably be good in her.

Again, nothing, the girl really was hard to get to talk. She wondered if she could get a good reaction from her later. "So, you want to talk about anythin?" It wouldn't take much longer to get back home, especially since the silence would keep up for most of the walk. She kept trying, but it seemed futile in and of itself. Soon they would reach darks, and after that the dorm rooms. She put the key in the door and opened it. "Do you have a preference of food?"

They kept walking. She didn't speak. She didn't feel like it. They approached the school. She guessed this person went to the school, too. They entered a dormitory building. It was warmer in here. She enjoyed it. She was a little drier now. It wasn't quite light enough in the halls to see her guide. Maybe once they were inside. She was asked her preference of food. She didn't know what she liked. She had only eaten a couple dishes that she remembered. She was told that she'd eaten more. She chewed her lip and looked down at her shoes. They were wet. They were also special to her. She sighed a little.

Alex had put the umbrella down outside the door.. her double could use it. There was a closet, and a bathroom in her dorm room. Her parents paid extra for it, she smiled at the girl. "Here, you can get changed in there" she pointed to the bathroom , after handing her a towel, and one of her silk nighties, it'd probably be floor length for the girl. She added a pair of underwear and shorts in case the girl wasn't comfortable in just the nightie, she didn't own a bathrobe. "Once your done, we can put your clothes in the dryer, ok?. ". It would be abit of effort to go but she didn't mind. She waited for the girl to go befor she would start barterring with her clone.

She was given a towel and some clothes and pointed in the direction of the bathroom. She walked to it without arguing. She shut the door behind her. She looked at herself in the mirror. The light was much better in here. She should've seen what the other person looked like before she came in here. Now she was curious. She guessed she would find out late. She looked so sad. Wet. Her clothes were soaked... This dress. She stroked the once-soft black dress. The water was making it a uncomfortable. And really heavy... She stripped out of all her wet clothes. She set her weapon on the ground gently to avoid scratching the tile. She took the towel and ruffled it over her hair a couple times. It was still damp, but she didn't really mind. She wiped her body down. Still damp, still cold. She pulled on the gown she was given. It covered her whole body. It also dragged against the ground... Was she really this short? She folded her clothes up and made a neat pile of them, along with her shoes. She grabbed her weapon and started to drag it out of the bathroom. Her strap was folded up with the clothes, so she would have to just carry it. She made sure it didn't ruin the floor. She still didn't speak...

"look, we need to get her something, yes.. I know. Look. I'll make it up, when she's gone we can have fun and this time I'll let you be in charge of everything. Promise", Alex managed to convince her clone to go, and it seemed she was willing to go at high speeds. After handing her some money, she was out the door. It was decided on pizza for dinner. Not that nutritiou but yummy and fast. Her clone was going to bring two different types, meat lovers and supreme, with extra cheese. While her clone was gone she had to entertain the girl long enough for her umbrella to come back. "There, nice to see you dry." She giggled and smiled at the girl. "You know, you can put that thing down. No one here worth scaring. Do you want anything to drink while we wait for dinner to get here?", Alex was alittle wet, her black hair curling abit from the moisture, her red shirt stained, her blue jeans also held some wet spots. She went to the makeshift kitchen area, it was a island, with a fridge and mircowave. She pulled out two cups and a bottle of lemonade.

There was a conversation going on. She blinked a few times to get her eyes to adjust. She only saw one person. It was a girl. Black hair. That's all she really knew. She was told she could set the weapon down. She guessed it was a little frightening. She was fine letting it go for a bit, but she didn't want to travel too far away from it. She set it head down leaning against a wall in what she suspected was the center of the girl's dorm room. She followed the girl into the kitchen. She nodded at the girl's offer. She was probably going to speak sometime soon. It would just take a little bit... She didn't like to talk when she didn't feel good. And that seemed to be just so often these days...

Alex poured lemonade in both glasses, giving one to the girl. "Well, here you go then. I guess there isn't much of a rush to talk if you don't want to. But a name would be nice. Just so I knew what to call you, or i could just call you sweety or pumpkin", she giggled, it was a joke, she ment it in the most innocent way possible though. She reached up to delicatly run her fingers through the girls damp hair. It was probably abit intrusive but she was always like this with kids. It was hard to resist ruffling their hair.

The girl handed her a glass with a yellow liquid in it. She brought it to her lips and sipped at it. It was cold and a little sweet. She liked it. She set the glass on the counter. The girl approached her and touched her. It was weird. She cringed a bit. She didn't speak up, though. She just let it happen. She looked back to the glass. She wanted more. She took it and sipped at the liquid again. She was asked her name. Well... actually, she wouldn't mind being called sweety or pumpkin. It would make her feel a bit better. But she guessed her actual name would be fine. "Kasi...." That's all she needed to say. She was feeling a little better. Maybe she would be able to speak fully soon.

"Well Kasi, its nice to finally get something out of you. Maybe later you'll feel up to talking more".. how long was she going to house the girl. If she didn't find out where she could drop her off tonight she'd have to do it tomorrow. And that, would just be annoying. She picked up her own glass and took afew sips of the sugary concoction. She loved lemonade. Almost as much as she liked chocolate. "I guess a snack wouldn't hurt befor dinner got here", she stated as she pat her grumbling stomach. She opened her confectionary cupboard. "lets see... what flavour chips do you like?", she wasn't the healthiest person.

She shrugged. She might talk a little more later. She was feeling a little better. She continued to drink. She shrugged and looked over at the girl. "I don't think I've had chips before." She chewed her lip. The most she's spoken today. She was fine with it. She continued to sip her drink. It was so good. She still didn't smile. She looked back to the doorway. She was a little worried her weapon was going to disappear or something. She really was scared something back would happen to it. She looked at the ground. She took a deep breath. Everything would be okay, she supposed. She was till upset with things, though.

"Ah, ok", that was wierd, Well she guessed it was possible she never had tried them befor. She took out three different flavours and placed them on the counter, two of each, she had three herself. Though she wasn't really going to eat all of them. Her clone should be back soon. Especially if she bothered calling the place during the walk. "Well, pick whichever you like, there is barbeque, chicken and plain there". She picked up her own chicken packet and started chewing on them.

She looked between the three. She took one of the plain ones. It made the most sense to her. She started to eat. They tasted pretty good. She smiled a little. It didn't last long. She looked around the kitchen. She wondered what to be thinking right now. She'd experienced being in a stranger's house before. That was normal. But nothing like this. She guessed she could try speaking up again. "Is it alright if I sit somewhere?" She needed to ask permission... she wasn't sure why. It was probably fine. But... she felt so nervous. She was feeling lonely.

"of course, wherever you'd like. Your all dry now afterall. And don't worry bout your clothes, we'll fix them up after dinner gets here", right on cue she heard the door knock, she didn't bother giving her double keys. She went to open it , taking the boxes as she gave her clone a quick kiss on the lips befor making it go back. "I know, " she said simply to the her doubles obvious discouraged face befor it dissapeared completely. She brought the steaming boxes to the little island, befor opening them up and fetching two plates. Piling pieces on both, she figured the girl wouldn't eat alot, she put four slices on both plates then handed one to the girl. "Here, its abit messy but I don't mind if you get the gown diry. And I'll get you some paper towels if you want".

She was given permission to sit anywhere. She guessed so. She found a chair in the kitchen and sat at it. The girl came back with some steaming boxes. Something smelled so good... It may just be that she didn't have the ability to smell for the last few hours, but it was just the more delicious thing ever. She wondered what it tasted like. Her eyes were bright. She was handed a plate with some of the strange triangular food on it. She nodded. She reached down and lifted it up. It was hot. "Thank you." She brought it to her mouth and bit into it. It was hot. It hurt her mouth. But... it was good. She chewed and swallowed. She couldn't help but smile. It was good. Some of the best food she'd tasted. She didn't plan on getting the gown dirty. She was a fairly neat eater. She would be okay.

Alex grabbed a couple sheets from her dispenser, giving a couple to the girl to do with as she pleased, placing one of her own sheets as a sort of bib, stuffing it in her shirt to keep it on her chest befor picking up her slice and digging into the steaming pile of meat and cheese. "Mmm... man, i haven't had pizza in ages", she hadn't ordered for at least four days, that qualified an eternity in her books.

She nodded. Pizza. That's what this was. She recognized the word. Wasn't sure why. She just took another bite of the delicious food. She set it down and swallowed, wiping her greasy hands on the paper she'd been given. "It's really good." She gave the girl a quick smile. She looked at the food. She would probably eat more of it. She stayed silent for a little bit. "Thank you for helping me out..." She still wasn't sure if she should explain why she was out there, crying. She was glad that somebody was there for her, though...
